Profile;
Stephen qualified as an architectural technician from Waterford RTC in 1989. He worked in private practice in London and Dublin before joining Aer Rianta where he worked as an architectural technician and project manager for over 11 years. He joined Whelan Corcoran Smith in 2001 and he became a director of WCA Architects in 2011.
Stephen has acquired an extensive knowledge of fire safety design and while working with Aer Rianta, he held specific responsibility for the fire safety upgrades of buildings in Dublin and Shannon Airports. In recent years Stephen has also acquired specialised knowledge as a designer in the area of care for the elderly and HIQA legislation and regulation. He has attended courses given by Stirling University on the subject of specialised design for dementia care and he is the director of WCA Architects with responsibility for nursing home design and HIQA compliance.
